Brad Gillingham Sets New World Records

2006 International Powerlifting Federation Hall-of-Fame inductee Brad Gillingham (USA) showed he's not slowing down anytime soon, winning the 2008 IPF Masters World Championships in Palm Springs, California on October 4th.  Gillingham, 42, blew the super heavyweight field away, setting new records in the the deadlift (395 kg/869 lbs) and total (1057.5 kg/2326.5 lbs), on his way to earning Best Lifter Honors.  A 390 kilo squat and 272.5 kilo bench press rounded out his performance.   The No. 1 ranked Gillingham bested his own previous IPF Masters lifts in the deadlift (384.5 kg) and total (1027.5 kg) en route to his massive victory over… Read More

Are The Russians Getting Off Easy?

After another positive test, the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) has imposed a suspension for the Russian Powerlifting Federation (RPF). The RPF had been serving out an "extended suspended sentence" since 2007 and this latest positive test has garnered only a "tailored suspension" because of the RPF's recent efforts to clean up.   Whether or not you are for or against the use of performance enhancing drugs, this sure looks like "Double Secret Probation" to me.
